Welcome to the Smoky Mountain Journal of Photography. We are a free, electronic publication for the millions of photographers who visit the area in and around the Great Smoky Mountains National Park each year. Our articles will have something for all skill levels, beginner to accomplished. The topics focus primarily on nature photography, landscape, wildlife, and close-up, but also include the genera of travel and environmental portraiture.
To cover these fields, we will include articles on image capture and processing. In addition, we will cover an area that is usually neglected in photography magazines, natural history. It is important to know how our cameras and computers work, but the best images consistently come from photographers who understand their subjects. Nature photographers need some knowledge of weather as it affects light and also knowledge of animal behavior and plant life-cycles to capture their subjects at their most remarkable.
Thank you for joining us in this venture. The Journal is written by photographers and naturalists who either live here in the Smokies or are fortunate enough to spend part of their year working here. Like the ever changing mountains, the Journal and website will evolve over time to meet the needs of our readers. Your feedback will help us naturally select what direction to take. Please let us know what you think at firstname.lastname@example.org.
